POSITION SUMMARY:
Catholic Charities is working closely with the Franklin McKinley School District in San Jose to deliver Prevention & Early Intervention (PEI) Services in partnership with the Mental Health Department. Employing evidence-based practices, PEI services are targeting high-risk youth and their families with the goal of preventing, reducing, and eliminating mental health issues that may be inhibiting academic success and family wellness. The Behavior Specialist supports PEI by engaging families in services aimed at addressing behavioral issues through educational workshops and sessions, and behavior support planning service in the home and in the community, connecting students and families to resources that will reduce/eliminate nonproductive and violent behaviors. Extensive training will be provided.

Overseen by the agency CEO, led by the COO and managed by the Parish Partnership Director, disaster recovery services are coordinated by the agency’s DRS Operations Team.

The DRS housing coordinator provides direct services through housing operations to DRS clients under the direction of the DRS Program Manager. Catholic Charities is assisting survivors of the San Jose Coyote Creek Flood find temporary or permanent affordable housing. The Housing Coordinator will identify appropriate apartments and match the clients with the units, facilitating their lease agreements through an agency master lease and individual subleases or through individual leases or shared housing sublease agreements, while facilitating timely moving of the families to the available units. When original units are repaired the Housing Coordinator will facilitate the termination of the temporary leases and the resumption of the original lease agreements. Housing Coordinator will ensure all furniture is ordered and ready for client to move into temporary or permanent housing.

Program Description

Refugee Foster Care (a Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County program) supports refugee and immigrant children who have separated from their families because of war, persecution, and trafficking. We place these unaccompanied youth into loving homes all over the Bay Area and provide support and advocacy for the youth in many different areas of their lives. These areas include, but not limited to: school, mental and physical health, the legal system, acculturation, staying connected with their own culture, and independent living skills.

Translators and Interpreters play a crucial role in the resettlement process by bridging linguistic and cultural gaps between the youth, program staff, and vendors.
