Inmate & Family Services
(formerly Friends Outside in Santa Clara County)
The mission of Catholic Charities’ Inmate & Family Services program is to empower and assist families, youth, prisoners and ex-prisoners to overcome the immediate and long-term effects of incarceration and to act as a bridge between those we serve, the community at large and the criminal justice system.
We believe by aggressively addressing factors that cause violence, physical and emotional abuse, substance abuse, and criminal lifestyle amongst those most at-risk … offenders, their children and family members … we can substantially reduce crime and delinquency and their devastating effects on the community.
Jail Services Services provided include: brief crisis intervention; connections to resources and referrals post release; and completion of client intakes with walk-in clients and phone inquiries.Youth Services Services provided include: after-school programs for youth ages 6-18; mentoring services for youth ages 4-16 with a parent in prison; and summer camp.
Family Support & Educational Services Services provided include: in-home visitations; parenting support classes; and child development screening plus referrals to mental health and developmental assessments.
