Overview

Eastside Neighborhood Center (ENC) provides East San Jose with educational, recreational, wellness, nutritional, and social services. The majority of the participants are Vietnamese, Chinese, Latino and Filipino seniors, many facing economic, language, educational, and cultural barriers.

  • Multicultural special events, classes, presentations, workshops, wellness classes and services

  • Nutritional program/Noon meal (11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)

Eligibility

ENC is as inclusive as possible. Almost 90% of participants are seniors. There are no special criteria needed to access our services with two exceptions: The Nutrition Program has an age requirement of 60 years for a subsidized lunch (county funding requirement) and SALA (Senior Adults Legal Assistance) has an age requirement of 60 years.


Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer opportunities include: Bilingual adults of all ages are welcome. Program assistants, translators, conversation partners, computer instructors for small senior groups (Mandarin and Vietnamese). Professional health educators (Mandarin and Vietnamese). Support services: greeters, computer data entry (Vietnamese and Chinese).
