Assisting in the Community

Contact:  Angela Silveira,,  408 325 5264

Step-Up Silicon Valley offers a unique, community experience that immerses participants in the reality of Silicon Valley that grows in disparity as much as prosperity. Volunteers are an integral part of the awareness tool that educates everyone, from policy makers to local community leaders, about the day-to-day realities of those living in poverty in Santa Clara County.
Each Poverty Simulation relies on the participation of 15 resource volunteers who staff the community offices, business, and school. A complete list of the resource tables is provided prior to the start of the simulation. The volunteer is needed for 4 hours that include; 1- hour training prior to simulation, 2 hours for the simulation exercise, 1 hour to participate in reflection and debrief.
