The Franklin McKinley Children’s Initiative is a collaboration of partner organization working in the Santee and Seven Trees neighborhoods in east San Jose.

Vision
Every FMCI child graduates High School ready for College and Career.

Mission
A community partnership that supports children from cradle to career through; 1) Community Schools; 2) Safe and Strong Neighborhoods; and 3) Economic Development.

FMCI works in partnership with the community, local service providers as well as partner agencies: City of San Jose, Santa Clara County Office of Education, Franklin McKinley School District, East Side Union High School District and Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County to provide resources to the students and their families of the target schools. Our geographic scope encompasses two neighborhoods, the Santee Elementary in east San Jose where the work began in 2010 and the expansion to the Seven Trees neighborhood in 2018.

FOCUS AREAS
This collaboration of partners, service providers and community members meet regularly to identify, research, and streamline resources focused on the FMCI mission. FMCI partner organizations identify systems issues that hinder progress and work to break down silos to better address the needs in the community.

Three focus strategies:

  • Hub Schools
  • Safe and Strong Neighborhoods
  • Economic Development
